We have done it again.
The 3rd Fashion in Film Festival launches across leading London venues in early December 2010.
Birds of Paradise, an intoxicating exploration of costume as a form of cinematic spectacle throughout European and American cinema, promises exclusive screenings of rare and unseen films, plus two special commissions as part of the season: an installation for Somerset House by the award-winning Jason Bruges Studio and a London-wide Kinoscope Parlour, an installation of six peephole machines designed by Mark Garside after Thomas A. Edison’s kinetoscopes. |

Canned Candies:
The Nudes of Jean Clemmer
26 November - 22 December
www.flash-projects.co.uk
Flash Projects presents original vintage photographs and films by Jean Clemmer, exploring fantasy, sensuality and haute couture in 1960s Paris. Staged to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Canned Candies, first published in Paris in 1969 as Nues, this is the UK premiere of the stunningly original collaboration of Salvador Dalí’s personal photographer Clemmer and the visionary of French fashion, Paco Rabanne. The exhibition captures the utopian dreams of an era, exploring the realms of science fiction and fantasy. Capturing 1960s’ sexual freedom, the erotic photographs feature Rabanne's famed futuristic rhodoid and aluminium chain-mail jewellery. |

MA Fashion and Film
London College of Fashion
This is a unique course in its combination of the study of fashion and film. It allows students to learn about the theoretical aspects of fashion and film while at the same time gaining an understanding of the practical nature of costume design. Designed to bridge the gap between undergraduate provision and research in this area, it will provide academic progression for students from a wide range of fashion, cultural studies and film courses.

Diaghilev and the Golden Age of the Ballets Russes
25 September 2010 - 9 January 2011
Victoria and Albert Museum
Diaghilev’s Ballet Russes represent a unique collaborative moment in dance, art and performance history. Extraordinary Orientalist and modernist costumes and sets, designed by Léon Bakst and others, were brought to life through the visionary choreography and dance of Vaslav Nijinsky, Mikhail Fokine, Tamara Karsavina and Anna Pavlova. This major exhibition at the V&A documents the company in all its glory from 1909-1929 and makes great use of contextual film.

Vestoj
Vestoj, edited by Anja Aronowsky Cronberg, is an exciting new journal that wants to open up a dialogue between theory and practice. Combining critical thinking ‘and a bit of good old-fashioned glamour’, Vestoj aims to cultivate an even greater understanding for the discipline. Published annually, Vestoj exists outside of seasonally-based trends and news-focused articles. Current second issue out now is on Fashion and Magic, and has an interview with Kenneth Anger by Aaron Rose. |
