PANEL DISCUSSION: Wednesday 18 March 18.30-20.00
Central Saint Martins, LVMH Theatre, E003
Film is an ever-present companion of today’s fashion show, interacting with it directly and indirectly, on a physical as well as conceptual level. If the fashion show – typically an intimate and exclusive industry event – has now become an integral part of a brand’s global marketing campaign, how has the moving image assisted in this transition? Are fashion shows increasingly orchestrated on the premise that viewers globally will be watching them on their laptops and mobile devices? Are fashion shows being replaced with films? Have the new technologies of live streaming and the instant click-to-buy feature become standard for brands wanting to engage more directly with their audiences/consumers? These are some of the questions we will discuss, drawing on the diverse expertise of our panellists.
